FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of church is Delta?

  • In short, we are a Christ-centered, bible teaching, missional church. Being Christ-centered means that everything that we believe and do is about Jesus. Being Bible-teaching means that the Bible is our ultimate authority on all matters of faith and life, and we boldly preach the Bible every week. Being missional means that our church isn't defined by our programs, but by the influence we have in the city through relationships with people who do not yet know Jesus. • When and where does Delta meet?

  • We meet on Sundays at The Hoogland Center for the Arts on the 3rd floor in the Club Room. The address is 420 S 6th St., Springfield, Il. Our cafe time is at 10:15am and our service begins at 10:30am. Free parking is available in the parking garage right next to the Hoogland Center. View more information about our worship gatherings for service times and location.

  • What does a service usually look like?

  • Pretty simple. We sing and worship together, hear God's Word taught, share communion, and enjoy each other's community. We're not about a big show, we just want to be very real and worship Jesus.

  • What should I wear?

  • We prefer clothes. We're all pretty casual; 'come as you are' so to speak. Although we would adhere to the restaurant mantra: "No shoes, no shirt, no service".

  • Are there programs for kids?

  • You bet! Our children's ministry is called DK Country, and exists in 2 parts: The Nest and The Herd. The Nest is our nursery for infants-PreK. The Herd is our K-5 ministry. It is Delta's desire to equip parents to be the primary spiritual teachers to their kids. Parents and children are invited at 10:10am in the Club Room, for DK Family Time before service begins. This is a special time for parents and their children to open God's Word, read, learn, and grow together in the Gospel. Childcare for babies-PreK is offered during the service, but elementary age school children will remain with their parents for worship and teaching; an activity table is provided for the elementary age kids as well during the service.

  • What about this 'communion' thing?

  • Communion (or the Lord's Supper) is a very important time for us. We intentionally take communion every week in order to remember Jesus' work that he's done for us, repent of our sin, and experience part of the mystery of God. The scripture teaches the the bread respresents Jesus' body and the juice represents his blood that cleanses away our sin. Communion is only for Christ-followers who are in right relationship with God and their fellow man.

  • Do I have to give money?

  • Only if you want to. Actually, if you are our guest, we prefer that you don't. Financially supporting Delta Church is ultimately an act of worship to God of those who are committed to Delta's vision and mission. The main ways to give financially are through our offering box at our service or through a direct deposit.

  • Is Delta affiliated with any group or organization?

  • We have 2 affiliations that we have strategically entered into to help us accomplish our vision for Springfield and the world. The first affiliation is with an interdenominational church planting network called The Acts 29 Network (www.acts29network.org). Acts 29 provides exemplary training resources, networking relationships, and coaching.

The other relationship is with the Southern Baptist Convention (www.sbc.net)and it's state partner, Illinois Baptist State Association (www.ibsa.org). The SBC, being the largest protestant denomination in the world, provides tremendous opportunity and resources for church planting and education. Delta is privileged to have such great partners in ministry.
